Overview

Motion soaking, in one enclosure

The DB3 is the field unit of the BARNEYE soaking system. It watches a single position on the feedline and wets the feed only while a cow is standing there, so the barn is cooled and the ration stays appetising without running the whole alley on a timer.

  • Motion sensing, indicators and solenoid valve in one housing
  • Clamps to the feedline rail at 1.8–2.0 m — no separate valve rail
  • 24 V DC supply, 3.5 L/min standard flow, IP66 valve
  • Works with an existing controller, or with DB7 / Mini-C Plus for online operation
  • 1.8–2.0 mTypical mounting height on the feedline
  • 1.5–2.1 mStandard spacing options
  • 60 %+Less water than conventional soaking
  • 0.75–1.0 mDetection range inside the feed space
Advantages

Why the DB3 is specified

Four things it brings to a feedline that a valve and a timer do not.

60 % less water

Motion detection can reduce soaking water use by more than 60 % against conventional timed soaking.

Integrated construction

The enclosure brings sensing, indicators and soaking components together, so nothing is left loose on the rail.

Consistent installation

Standardised units create a uniform appearance across the full length of the barn feedline.

Easy maintenance

A modular design simplifies inspection, service and replacement — one unit off, one unit on.

Operation

How it works

Three steps, repeated at every position along the rail.

  1. 01 Detect Motion sensing identifies that a position at the feed rail is occupied.
  2. 02 Enable The system opens soaking at that occupied position only — the rest of the rail stays dry.
  3. 03 Stop Water stops the moment the cow leaves the position.
Configuration

Flexible control path

The DB3 switches its own circuit, so it fits either way.

  1. Existing controller Keep the soaking controller already installed on the farm and let the DB3 units switch the circuits themselves.
  2. BARNEYE online Connect a DB7 or a Mini-C Plus to run the same hardware on the BARNEYE platform, with remote strategies and operating history.
